OPERATING PRINCIPLE
An adjustable, pneumatically driven plunger pump doses a very small amount of lubricant and transports it via a flexible hose to the spray nozzle. By adding compressed air, the lubricant is atomized at the nozzle, resulting in an even, thin oil film that reduces friction heat between contact surfaces.
The compressed air pressure at the spray nozzle must be set using a pressure regulator within a range of minimum 0.3 bar to maximum 1.0 bar. For optimal performance, we recommend a setting of 0.5 bar.
The operating pressure for the pneumatically controlled solenoid valve, which activates both the frequency controller and the plunger pump, must be between 5 and 10 bar.
Applications:
-
Chain lubrication
-
Spraying cutting oil on saw blades, drills, milling cutters, taps, etc., as an alternative to coolant
-
Atomizing cutting oil during punching, bending, rolling, etc.
-
Lubricating conveyors
-
Spraying oil on funnels in the food industry

OPERATION of the pneumatic plunger pump
Each lubrication point is served by its own pneumatic pump. The pump is driven by a single-acting pneumatic piston, which is operated by compressed air at a pressure of 5 to 10 bar. When the air is activated, the piston moves and a metered quantity of lubricant is delivered into the taper nozzle (see 1) within the spray head (see 2).
When the air is released—either by the solenoid valve or the pneumatic frequency controller—the piston returns to its original position via a spring, and the dosing chamber refills with lubricant. The pump is then ready for a new stroke.
The number of strokes per minute can be adjusted from 1 to 66, depending on the set quantity of lubricant used, its viscosity, and the air pressure.
Some unique advantages of micro-lubrication:
-
The oil is sprayed extremely finely and without mist (*) to protect tools
-
Up to 90% less oil consumption – clean machines and workpieces – dry chips
-
Lower waste disposal costs – no need to treat or dispose of coolants
-
Better cooling of tools – extended tool life – reduced tool costs
-
Enhanced machine capabilities for tighter tolerances – less machine downtime
-
Higher production speeds – improved surface finish – better product quality
IN SHORT: COST REDUCTION ACROSS THE BOARD
Information and operating instructions
- ILC micro-lubrication systems dispense the lubricant in exact quantities, adjustable from 0 to 41 mm³ per pulse.
-
100% air-operated plunger pumps
-
The lubricant is delivered with extreme precision through a separate hose from the taper nozzle. Hazardous mist and atomization are a thing of the past. (*)
-
After installation, additional pumps can be added. You only need to order a complete pump unit with spray nozzle and tubing.
-
A pneumatic pulse generator with an adjustable range of 1 to 66 strokes per minute
-
Easy adjustment of lubricant quantity and airflow
-
Transparent reservoir made of durable material with electric level monitoring

Flow Adjustment of Micro Pumps
When the adjustment screw is turned clockwise, the flow rate decreases. When turned counterclockwise, the flow rate increases.
